I designed these cuties to match the delicious churro sundaes from our friends at Ridges Churro Bar, based in Los Angeles. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend checking them out!

Difficulty: Beginner

Size: Finished product is approximately 6″ long, but can be made to any size.

Terminology:

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • inc: single crochet increase
  • MR: magic ring

Materials:

  • 1 skein of golden brown yarn (worsted weight/4ply)
  • Size E-4 (3.5mm) crochet hook
  • 6 mm black plastic safety eyes
  • Polyester fiberfill
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers

Notes:

  • You may use any yarn weight and hook size, as long as it creates neat stitches such that the fiberfill will not show through.

Churro

This piece is worked in rows using golden brown yarn.

Ch 31,

R1: starting in the second chain from the hook, 30 sc (30)

R2-12: ch 1, turn, working in BLO, 30 sc (30)

Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.

Place the eyes in the middle of the churro as shown. Using black yarn, embroider the mouth onto the front of the face with a tapestry needle, just below the eyes.

Use the yarn tail to sew the edges of the rectangle together to create a cylinder.

Churro ends (x2)

This piece is worked in continuous rounds using golden brown yarn.

R1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6)

R2: 1 inc in each sc (12)

slst in next st and fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.

Use the yarn tail to sew the ends on the top and bottom of the churro.
